Kitchens are such an important part of the home, they need to be functional, clean, and someplace you feel happy. I know when I am happy in a space I am much more likely to spend time there, and that benefits my family and myself. From the day we moved in, we knew the kitchen needed some help. The pictures don't show it, but the cabinets were pretty beat up. So at the very beginning I bought some gel stain and fixed them up a bit, however, the gel stain had some negatives of it's own and we could not get the past oil and grease off of a few of them (Ewww I know). So we did a crazy thing and painted our dark cabinets light! I have always LOVED white kitchens, and I still do, so now I have one :0)
You really don't realize how much you LOVE your kitchen sink/faucet/running water until you don't have it for a week and a half!

*This is the kitchen today*Just so you know this has been the hardest, most time consuming projects I have ever done, and anyone who thinks to do it in the future, just buy a paint sprayer, I promise it is worth it!
We got an awesome deal on the granite, and I am totally surprised I picked something so dark, ( I love a light marble) but I totally love the contrast.
Maybe for Christmas we will get a new stove/microwave. Love the bisk and all, but they are trying to die on us.
We aren't totally done with everything, but I'm taking a break. I love being in my kitchen, I love being excited to start cooking for my family more and more. I love being home, and I love making it mine. We did have a few hiccups along the way between the painting, the plumbing, and the sweet baby, but it was worth it, and I am so grateful to have it done. Next up wall paint? Back splash? Stove? Who knows, it never really ends ;)
I know this isn't at all the same picture, so it is hard to compare, but we also replaced our back door(yet to be painted). Sadly it is no longer a french door. It is now an atrium style door. So this might present the question why we changed the door in the first place. The original door was put on backwards, you heard me backwards. Cool thing was the doors swung outwards! Bad thing was the hinges were outside, and just totally normal hinges, meaning anyone could pop those out and come on in. Also it leaked like crazy, water damage is not a fun thing. We could have, would have bought french doors again, but the french doors that will not have the same leaking and weathering problems were more than 3 times as much, and why would we spend any money if it will just have the same problems in the long run. Something totally exciting about it though, we have a SCREEN! So stinking excited about that.
Oh and of course here is my sweet monster, just for fun :0)
