Corn Husk Wreath

SO I saw this on http://dejavucrafts.blogspot.com I loved it, but she didn't really show what she did and I am a visual person. So I figured I would go along with what she said. I bought my supplies.

1 dollar tree foam wreath
2 bags of corn husks from wal-mart (like $5 ea :0( say what?!)
1 box of sewing pins
costing about $13 (more than I wanted to spend, but I decided to deal with it)



So I tried it her way, I tore the corn husks up in to pieces around one inch base on each and pinned and pinned

and pinned, ugh it was exhausting. And the pins kept breaking through, I was so disappointed! Plus no matter how hard I tried to kepp them close together I could see the green foam through it all, Grrr. It wasn't looking how I wanted at all! See the fifth of it already done? Well when I finally went back to it I decided to use a glue gun <3 SOOO much better



So to HIDE the green I glued corn husks around the wreath. (on the inside too)



I glued around the back and moved up layer by layer all the way around, around the top of the wreath I bent the ends so I could stack them closely, I also used pins for re-enforcements (we get a lot of wind)



The middle was the hardest for me to figure out, so hopefully someone else can do better, but I'm happy for now.I went back to look at dejavu crafts, and hers is so different, it is chaotic and and lovely, I apparently need order, lots of order, haha oh well!



I guess Ryan had very little faith in my project, but once it was up he loved it, he actually said it's like and awesome sunburst! Not exactly what I was going for but hey he likes it!



P.S. wear long sleeves when working with corn husks! I had itchy rashes up my arms every time I attacked my wreath, oh and it only took 1 and 1/2 bags of corn husks, so you can buddy up if you want to save a little moolah!



Now I just need a million pumpkins?
